FooD for ThoughT

What’s the first thing that springs to mind when I say : FOOD?A plate of pleasure with guilt to follow has some insights.

“Guilt about the pleasure of eating is nothing new, and if diet gurus sound almost evangelical, there’s a very good reason for it.

..although cloaked in the language of science and nutrition, prevailing Western preoccupations with diet, self-control and the body stretch back…to antiquity.

Clearly people find pleasure in eating foods, but pleasure challenges self-control, and pleasure has a long history in our culture of being highly problematic because it challenges reason and logic – what you’re doing is caving in to bodily and hedonistic senses.”

 

Let’s face it. Food = Pleasure (at least for most people I know, or at least the ones willing to admit it..Heh)

Do you eat for “pleasure” or just for its dietary benefit. (Yea…Rrrrrright..Heh)

 

The pleasure of food is the sensation of well-being that derives from the fulfillment of a basic natural instinct.

What many don’t realize is that the pleasure we get from food is not only physical sensation, but emotional and psychological as well.

But..What to eat?

Bland rice cake or rich, decadent brownie?

Cholesterol

Fat

Pesticides

Sugar

Salt

Do you monitor the content or gobble down the gummie bears?

Do you consume more if the food is attractively presented?

Do you appreciate food for its its “ritualistic value”…dinner with the family at 6.

Is the only food you can eat without guilt a celery stalk or carrot stick?

Do ya feel “deprived” if you don’t have your “favorite” dish or dessert?

Some find the ultimate pleasure in eating the creations of a well-known chef, whereas others enjoy the emotions associated with a “home cooked meal” by a loved one.

Historically, food has also been a way to cope with stress…Ice-cream anyone?

Try as we may to avoid it, so much of our social life revolves around food.

So g’head, indulge that appetite, but don’t forget to give thanks to the One who gave you the glory of this simple pleasure.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ConsideR the CensoR

Cartoons which ‘offend’ may be the least of our problems when it comes to the “censorship” debate.

We are currently drowning in a tsunami of amorality. The adherence to traditional morality is long gone,and people fear Legislation in this arena more than they do societal ramifications and the consequences of a complete cultural breakdown.

In his book, “Slouching Towards Gomorrah”- Robert Bork states:”..ours is “a degenerate society,” “enfeebled, hedonistic,” “subpagan,” and headed for “ultimate degradation” in “the coming of a new Dark Ages.”
He suggests “law based on morality”and believed that society may properly set limits on “what may be shown said and sung.” One of his pivotal chapters is titled “The Case for Censorship.”

“Without censorship, it has proved impossible to maintain any standards of decency.“(p.117)

The music industry has transitioned from celebrating wholesome songwriters and musicians to sexualizing young girls at the earliest possible age and unapologetically celebrating wanton sex.
Much of what passes for rock music celebrates nihilism and perversion.
Rappers oftentimes glorify criminal behavoir as gangsta and macho,while the half naked girls and women are relegated to writhe and slither around them and the stage.

Critics are oftentimes accused of bigotry if they intimate that this is destructive to popular culture. It would thus seem then that you think misogyny and violence are what define the average black male and hypersexual narcissim – the average black girl and woman.

Lyrics are inundated with curse words and have been so deeply ingrained that it is taken completely for granted.

Films which promote the purposeful degradation of morality are monumental successes -
Sadistic violence, homoerotic behavior and anything which promotes unbridled hedonism.

Televison ads overwhelmingly target children and adolescents, who are estimated to watch more than 40,000 television commercials per year.

Turning off televsions, limiting children’s access to the Internet,trying to monitor music which is downloaded are solutions touted but as we all know……There are video screens in malls everywhere, in waiting room offices, billboards are thrust in our faces, magazine stands display what could pass for pornography on city streets.

Perhaps you should consider the state or federal government’s responsibilty in this after all.
The all powerful judiciary should be reined in.
It is every individual’s moral obligation to force the government’s hand with respect to the judiciary, which has all but removed the ability of individual communities to set social standards- specifically against pornography.

Some degree of censorship may frighten many-
but if the alternative is allowing the current decadent, secularist trend to keep diluting and destroying every known value our Country was founded upon…
We may just find ourselves in a place where even censorship may no be a possible strategy:
Moral Oblivion.

There’s a reason it is called “illegal” immigration..because um..it’s not legal.
Yet again we see liberals playing ethnic politics.

Eleazar Paula Mendez is charged with killing her three children. We are now being told that she was “depressed” but in her adopted hometown in Arkansas there were no mental-health professionals who speak Spanish.

In De Queen — which is 50 percent Hispanic — the largest mental-health clinic relies on an interpreter.”

“Some immigrants may be nervous about talking about their problems to an outsider if they entered the country illegally, said the priest, Marquez-Munoz.”

Entered the country ILLEGALLY being the operative term here.
I am not commenting on the status of Ms. Mendez, but the Priest who counselled Mr.Mendez is making this point.
These ‘immigrants’ need mental health services.. “And emotions and nuances are lost in translation..It’s like trying to watch a movie that has been dubbed,” Marquez-Munoz said.

Some of us have been saying this all along:
Multiculturalism is dangerous to our Nation.
We clearly see now that it is equally dangerous to the immigrants themselves as well as their children.
Ms.Mendez,is charged with capital murder in the deaths of Elvis, 7, and twins Samantha and Samuel, 5.

According the this report,the Mexican-born Mendez had lived in the United States about 11 years.
ELEVEN years…and reportedly her English was too poor to get the mental health counseling she allegedly needed?
“Her English is very limited,” the Rev. Salvador Marquez-Munoz said. “And who am I going to refer her to around here?”

Even President Clinton was in favor of immigrants learning English. We have said repeatedly : Immigrants must learn to acclimate to American culture and NOT visa versa.

Now there are three children gone- forever.We are sorrowful and mourn profoundly with the families.
But from what we are hearing…a simple English class could perhaps have -for them- spelled Life or Death.

Wouldn’t common sense simply dictate a law permitting indefinite confinement of sex offenders (or “sadists” which is what they truly are) deemed to be dangerous if released?
For mercys sake whatever happened to no-parole life sentences?

If you don’t believe there is a rampant, epidemic of sexual crime and violence, which is steadily increasing ..you are deluded.

While the government is urging people to stock up on bottled water and canned goods in the event of pandemic bird flu..they allow sexual sadists to create more and more victims.

What we need in order to protect ourselves and our precious children are not platitudes about alleged rehabilitation but tough, uncompromising penalties and consequences for sexual sadists be they viewed in the light of day or the dark of midnight.

It’s time to stop allowing sexual criminals to slither around amongst us.
It’s time for some serious housecleaning, including the dirty cracks and corners.
NOT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD should be Law…not a wish, hope and a prayer of a mother or father of a precious little one.

ThreE QuestionS

My first question is this:

The Muzlim women, if thats what you can call these particular ones in Qum, (the second most sacred city in Iran) need a serious geography lesson.
Due to “sketches”, which were viewed as anti-Izlamic, women in Qum gathered around a holy place, a shrine and burned the Israeli flag.

O.K. am I missing something here?
The alleged offenders were Danish, and somehow yet again there is cause to burn the flag of Israel? If someone sees the logical deduction here. .please clue us all in.

In addition to the usual ranting, threatening and general barbaric responses- “Thousands of Syrians enraged by caricatures of Islam’s revered prophet torched the Danish and Norwegian embassies in Damascus on Saturday “… In Indonesia they stormed the Danish Embassy.

Buildings were burned down over a perceived insult in a cartoon.

“In Gaza, Palestinians marched through the streets, storming European buildings and burning German and Danish flags. Protesters smashed the windows of the German cultural center and threw stones at the European Commission building..”

Hamas called the cartoons “an unforgivable insult” that merited punishment by death.
That’s right..they said Death.

Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany said she understood Muslims were hurt — though that did not justify violence.
Correct me if I’m mistaken , but isn’t that the very first lesson you teach your child in this life…Just because your feelings got hurt doesn’t mean you have a right to hit someone. Is that not the sole difference between a human who is cultured and civilized and a human who lives by raw nature and barbarian impulses?

Which brings me to my second question:

What are Muzlim leaders and average “so called innocent civilians” doing to dissociate their faith from these extreme and violent measures to which things are being taken by the terrorists? Do you see rallies, public protestations by Muzlim clerics and citizens with respect to this deplorable behavior in the Muzlim world? I don’t hear a peep.

Which leads me to my third question:

Iconoclastic expressions in America are generally condemned as being in bad taste. Despite this- there have been and are “so called artists” in America who create images deriding Christ. And as abhorrent as this is to most Americans – they do not burn down buildings or threaten to murder- in protest.Insulting and DerisorY material about women is so routine , it goes almost completely unnoticed.

This is not to say that this type of material should be remotely condoned…but one of the most
striking aspects of these recent events is the leverage of the Muzlim world, especially when there are perceived insults or “wounded feelings”.
Did you happen to notice that No One in AmericA will publish the ‘cartoons’. For those who did not view them on the Internet, it is being described and left to the imagination.
Why is that?
The Press won’t go near this one. Not even the self loathing N.Y. Times.
Not even the rags who will stoop to the lowest level and publish just about AnYthinG to get a good ‘story.”

Have they become sufficiently frightened?
It would seem that they have been served notice ..and they are complying.
While the aggrieved Muzlim “believers” call for executions, our country’s press is opting for censorship.
Pornography won’t get censored.
Ads which offend women won’t get censored.
Images which offend Christians or Jews won’t get censored.
But…..THIS ..the press has been intimidated enough to refuse to reproduce.

My third question is:
WHY?

12-15-05 49ers Season Ticket Holders Challenge Pat-Down Policy at Monster Park

SAN FRANCISCO – Two San Francisco 49er season ticket holders are challenging the new pat-down policy implemented by the 49ers this season. The ACLU of Northern California is representing Dan Sheehan, a season ticket holder for more than thirty-five years, and his wife Kathleen, who say their right to privacy under the California Constitution is being violated. The suit was filed today in San Francisco Superior Court. The ACLU-NC is asking the court to rule that the pat-downs violate the California Constitution.

In case you were not aware.. the pat-down policy was implemented this season in response to a directive from the NFL, citing post-September 11th security concerns.

This particular fan sees it otherwise.

“.. But this year, my family and I have been forced to submit to pat-downs by complete strangers that run their hands over my back, arms, waist and the outside of my legs. I find it terribly offensive that my family and I now have to be subjected to this because of some unknown fear…”

Did he say UNKNOWN fear?..Is this a cave-dweller?..Ask any 6 year old and they can tell you the very clear and present fear and danger.

He finds it “offensive“?.Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse meeeeeeeee!!.Did that become the new buzz word while I wasn’t looking?..and since when does our government risk National Security due to someone taking offense?

Alright ..here’s the real gem:

Ahem..did she just say “pure speculation”?..Stadiums, where thousands gather are by their own admission- terrorist’s targets. Last time I checked -that’s called a FACT.

and let’s see now…”Patting someone” to ensure that he or she has no suicide belt slapped on is “eroding the basic fabric of our free society”????

Yes,I can see how this “ahem”..case would be the bread and butter of the ACLU attack dogs.
In their solipsistic little dream world there is no need to take precautions..most assuredly if Heaven forfend it may “offend” someone.

What is the “West Bank”?

The West Bank is considered landlocked territory not officially recognized as part of any country. Israel calls the land “disputed.” The United Nations (a.k.a. The Largest Sanctioned Anti-Semite Club in the World) claims the West Bank is “occupied” by Israel.(is that what we now call lands which we acquired in a war that was waged AGAINST us??) Israel maintains overall control of most of the area while the Palestinian Authority( a.k.a. Terrorists, Suicide bombers etc.) has jurisdiction in about 40 percent.

The territory remained under Jordanian rule from 1948 until Israel captured the West Bank in 1967 (um..after they were ATTACKED by the invading Arabz) after Jordan’s King Hussein ignored Israeli pleas for his country to stay out of the Six Day War. Most countries rejected Jordan’s initial claim on the area, which it formally renounced in 1988.

Does someone who then meets this criteria get investigated more vigorously than someone who has not one characteristic of the perp?
